[RESAW 2023] Exploring the Archived Web During a Highly Transformative Age (inscription ouverte jusqu’au 30 avril 2023)

Le laboratoire TELEMME (MMSH, CNRS-AMU) et la Mission Interdisciplinarité(s) de l’Université d’Aix-Marseille organisent un colloque intitulé « Exploring the Archived Web during a Highly Transformative Age », qui vise à mieux comprendre les défis liés à la préservation et à la transmission du patrimoine numérique, ainsi qu’à son utilisation comme matériau d’étude par les chercheurs pour comprendre les phénomènes récents et l’histoire des cultures numériques.

Le colloque rassemblera des spécialistes de l’archivage du web de quinze disciplines différentes et de dix-sept pays différents les 5 et 6 juin 2023 au MUCEM Lab à Marseille. L’inscription est ouverte jusqu’au 30 avril 2023.

What will remain in thirty years’ time of the satirical videos published online during the imprisonment, the websites of the NGOs mobilised in Ukraine, the student groups on social networks or the academic journals? How can we study, preserve and transmit this native digital heritage at a time when technological, environmental and political changes are disrupting the production and dissemination of knowledge and shaking up certainties about ethics and democracy?

The conference, which will bring together the main specialists in the study of web archiving from around fifteen different disciplines and 17 countries, on 5 and 6 of June at the MUCEM Lab, proposes to better understand the challenges posed by web archiving, both from a patrimonial point of view and from the point of view of its exploration by researchers who use it as material in the study of recent phenomena and the history of digital cultures.

After the founding conference in Aarhus in 2015, London (2017), Amsterdam (2019), Luxembourg (2021), the RESAW 2023 conference will be held in Marseille for the first time in France. Organised by the TELEMME laboratory (MMSH, CNRS-AMU) and supported by the Mission Interdisplinarité(s) of the University of Aix-Marseille, the Marseille conference, entitled “Exploring the Archived Web during a Highly Tranformative Age”, aims to examine the evolution of web archiving by highlighting the ways in which its exploration allows a better understanding of the profound transformations of contemporary societies.
